Advancing Practice-Driven Institutionalism: Dynamics of Cross-Sector Partnerships in Hybrid Setting

Narendra Kumar, Associate Professor

This study advances the concept of practice-driven institutionalism (PDI) by examining how practices dynamically interact to shape collective outcomes in hybrid organizational settings, particularly in cross-sector partnerships. Through a qualitative multi-case analysis of three partnerships addressing social and environmental challenges, the research explores collaboration-enhancing practices, their influence on motivation and fatigue, the role of individual actors, cyclical collaboration patterns, and the need for dynamic conceptual models. Findings reveal that collaborative practices evolve cyclically, influenced by motivation dynamics and individual agency, necessitating adaptive frameworks beyond static institutional views. The study proposes an integrated conceptual model that highlights the temporal and relational dimensions of practice interactions in hybrid environments.

Differentiated Impression Management in Business Networks: Managing Organizational Malfeasance

Pankaj Pachauri, Other

This study examines how organizations within a business network employ differentiated impression management strategies to mitigate adverse evaluations resulting from an affiliate’s misconduct. By addressing five key sub-research questions—technical versus ceremonial tactics, conditions for successful differentiation, impact of historical wrongdoing, risks of coordinated strategies, and stakeholder perceptions of intentionality—this research offers new insights into the interactive dynamics of impression management. Utilizing a qualitative methodology, experimental studies were analyzed to explore the effectiveness of strategic differentiation in preserving organizational reputation. The findings indicate that successful differentiation relies on a combination of technical and ceremonial tactics, stakeholder perception management, and strategic timing. Furthermore, the research highlights the risks of perceived collusion when firms coordinate strategies too closely. These insights contribute to a deeper understanding of reputation management within interconnected business environments, offering theoretical and practical implications for organizational behavior and corporate communication.

The Role of Impact Inscription in Shaping Moral Markets: Insights from Spain's Impact Investing Sector

Kanchan Vishwakarma, Other

This study investigates the role of impact inscription in shaping moral markets, with a particular focus on Spain's impact investing sector. By embedding principles, objectives, and values into measurement tools, market practices are transformed to address social and environmental challenges. The research explores five key dimensions: defining moral market boundaries, accounting for social issues, governance structure redefinition, market emergence influence, and the challenges associated with impact washing. Employing a qualitative methodology, the study analyzes data collected over six years through interviews, observations, and document analysis to uncover the mechanisms of impact inscription. Findings reveal that clear boundary-setting, integrated social accounting, adaptive governance models, strategic market growth initiatives, and robust impact measurement frameworks contribute to enhanced trust and legitimacy in moral markets. The study concludes that impact inscription serves as a critical driver for evolving market dynamics, yet challenges remain in standardizing measurement frameworks and mitigating impact washing. Future research should explore these dynamics in diverse contexts using mixed methodologies to broaden understanding and applicability.
